Soulhike

Experience a total solar eclipse
in West Iceland
On August 12, 2026, the Moon will pass directly between Earth and the Sun, casting a narrow strip of Earth into total darkness. In West Iceland, the eclipse will be total. The Reykjanes and Snæfellsnes peninsulas lie directly within the path of totality, where the full eclipse can be experienced.
Witness the rare moment when daylight disappears and darkness falls in the middle of the day. Combine this extraordinary celestial event with a guided hiking journey through Iceland’s surreal natural landscapes.
We will travel together in a 9-passenger bus and camp at scenic Icelandic campsites. You may bring your own tent and camping equipment or rent gear from Soulhike. Meals are not included, but there will be opportunities to cook at the campsites, as well as regular grocery stops throughout the journey.
The itinerary includes some of West Iceland’s most extraordinary natural wonders: Gullfoss, Geysir, Þingvellir National Park, the Glymur waterfall, Hvammsvík’s geothermal baths, and the magical Snæfellsnes Peninsula.
Many people travel to Iceland to witness this remarkable celestial event, but on this journey we will prioritize tranquility over crowds, slowness over rushing from one attraction to the next.
Our guide and Soulhike founder, Elsebeth Molberg Thing, knows West Iceland’s most beautiful hiking trails and will lead you to the most immersive and meaningful experience possible during this unforgettable eclipse adventure.

Soulhikes hikes differ from other guided hikes by a more conscious approach to hiking as a personal process. We hike with presence, both towards the surroundings, our bodies, and each other. You must therefore be prepared to be able to hike in silence for periods of time and respect the framework for this when required. The silence will deepen your experience, while you still share your experiences with others.
